MYTHS & TRUTHS

Myth: There is no scientific evidence that Chinese medicine is effective. Its effectiveness (regardless of the billions attesting to it) is merely a placebo effect.

Truth:

“There are thousands of studies showing the efficacy of Chinese Traditional Treatments (needles, tweena, herbs and other means). The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes this treatment method and includes it in the basket of treatments they recommend. The research field is full of scientific evidence to prove the effectiveness of the method.

In any case, 1.5 billion Chinese do not need scientific confirmation that their 3,000-year-old medicine is effective. Neither do western patients that have been using TCM (mostly after traditional modalities have failed to help).

THEY KNOW! IT WORKS RGARDLESS OF THE LACK OR ABUNDANCE OF SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE

Patients that have been exposed to the efficacy of Dr. Lu's treatment and effectiveness also know:

The method just works !!!

Nonetheless, I bring here some of studies that have been done over the years that can perhaps appease the skeptics among us.

The research field in this field is full of activity and the quotations presented below are a taste of recent studies.

There is plenty research to dive into for those that are interested.

It is my hope that this taste will challenge further investigation before arriving at rash and ignorant statements / conclusions

Acupuncture suppresses methamphetamine addiction. Daegu Haany University and Qiqihar Medical University researchers investigated acupuncture as a means of suppressing intravenous methamphetamine self-administration. Based on the results of a controlled laboratory experiment, the research team concludes that the application of acupuncture to an acupoint located on the wrist suppresses methamphetamine self-administration via the GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) receptor system. The researchers suggest that acupuncture is “a useful therapy for the treatment of methamphetamine abuse.” [1]

In the principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), the whole concept is a key factor in curing chronic prostatitis and its complications. Each human being is an organic individual, every system inside the body is independent but closely linked, they are linked by the flow of Qi and blood in the body, besides, different organs in the same system work together more tightly and impact each other more, the same to the urology and reproductive system in the male. Acupuncture combined with moxibustion is more effective for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis than meloxicam (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Researchers from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine quantified the curative effect of warm needle acupuncture using micro-CT (computed tomography). [1] In the study, acupuncture combined with moxibustion successfully improves the condition of the osteoarthritic knee bone structure. In addition, knee cartilage scores document that acupuncture with moxibustion reduces inflammation and accelerates knee cartilage repair.

Acupuncture stimulates knee osteoarthritis cartilage repair by regulating proteins TGF-β1 and IGF-1. Beijing University of Traditional Chinese medicine researchers determined that acupuncture accelerates articular cartilage repair in the osteoarthritic knee by inhibiting the overexpression of TGF-β1 and IGF-1. With multiple objective laboratory instruments measuring outcomes, the investigation also reveal that acupuncture smooths the surface of knee cartilage while regulating cell proliferation and differentiation. [1] Under the results section of this article, you will be able to read more about this groundbreaking discovery.
